Ange Postecoglou has [begun his time at Nottingham Forest](https://hotspurhq.com/i-knew-it-was-coming-ange-postecoglou-speaks-on-tottenham-exit-for-first-time-01k4x40n8z3y) poorly: two straight losses.
The loss against Arsenal can be forgiven. The Aussie manager was probably still filling out his paperwork as the game kicked off, and he had next to no time to gel with his new players.
However, last night, when most football eyes were on the Champions League, Nottingham Forest were inexcusably eliminated from the EFL Cup in only the third round, by Swansea.
The Championship team won the match in stoppage time, with Cameron Burgess (Ange's countryman, no less) scoring the winning goal for the Swans.
Ange Postecoglou looked dejected, and the camera panned precisely at the moment to show his raw reaction. If you haven't seen his reaction yet, that meme will start doing the rounds in no time.
In only his first two games, Nottingham Forest learned a painful Ange Postecoglou lesson that Tottenham fans could have told them about months ago.
Nottingham Forest make a painful Postecoglou realization Tottenham already knew
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Postecoglou likes making promises based on his past experiences. He makes these promises with his chest, and they can either turn out to be his blessing or his downfall.
After the Arsenal match, Ange Postecoglou was asked about when he would have the Nottingham Forest players playing the way he wanted. He made a promise that, despite the result against Arsenal, it would be by Wednesday that he'll get the team he wants.
"No mate, it won't be months, it won't be weeks, it will be Wednesday. I can't afford to waste time, this is not a project; this football club had a strong season last year, needs to be stronger this year and my job is to get us to where I want us as quickly as possible. By Wednesday night, we'll start seeing some real principles being embedded."
"It won't take long, and I'm not going to let it take long."
Fast forward to Wednesday night, and those principles were on display in the first half only. Igor Jesus scored two goals, but he was subbed off for the second half. It was just one of the confusing subs that Ange made, and it capitulated Forest.
Unfortunately, Nottingham Forest will need to get used to taking Ange's words with a pinch of salts. He makes promises like this all the time, and unfortunately, it only took two matches in charge for his promises to mean less.
Look, if you give Ange some time, [he will achieve success. He always does](https://hotspurhq.com/ange-postecoglou-just-granted-lucas-bergvall-his-lifelong-wish). But waiting for that will gruel Forest fans.
