David Moyes’s Everton are not interested in signing former Tottenham full-back Sergio Reguilon in an out-of-window move.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Everton won’t be making a move for free agent Sergio Reguilon. While the Toffees do seek more quality and depth at left-back, they have decided against making an out-of-window move for the former Tottenham full-back.
Reguilon was a part of the Real Madrid youth setup back in the day. He went up the ranks at some pace and did get promoted to the first team back in 2018. However, the Spaniard was never really an important part of their plans. As a result, he joined Tottenham in the summer of 2020 on the back of an impressive loan spell at Sevilla.
While the Spanish international was an integral part of their plans in the initial years, he eventually went down the pecking order and spent the last few seasons out on loan. Sergio Reguilon ended up leaving the North London club as a free agent, and he has been assessing his options.
Everton will not make a move for Reguilon
Despite being a free agent, Sergio Reguilon has not been able to find a new club. While the 28-year-old has been linked with quite a few top clubs, nothing has materialised so far. In recent weeks, Everton have been linked with the Real Madrid graduate.
Recent injuries to Vitaliy Mykolenko and Adam Aznou have left David Moyes short on options in the full-back department. Everton have been forced to deploy midfielder James Garner at left-back, while centre-back Jake O’Brien has taken charge on the right in the majority of the fixtures under Moyes.
While the Scottish manager certainly seeks more quality in the full-back department, the Toffees have decided against dipping into the free agent market, as Moyes is happy with the options at his disposal for now. The Everton boss could look to strengthen that area in January, but he is not looking to add Reguilon to his squad.
The 28-year-old has been linked with the Merseyside club. However, there is no concrete interest from the club. As a result, a move is unlikely to happen even though Sergio Reguilon is available for free.
The Toffees are quite happy with how things panned out in the summer as they added Jack Grealish, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Tyler Dibling, Merlin Rohl, Thierno Barry, and Adam Aznou to their squad. These signings have already started making an impact, and they are hoping to add more top-quality options when the window reopens in January.
