Newcastle United have money in the bank after selling Alexander Isak in the summer.
Newcastle United are reportedly targeting Real Madrid utility man Eduardo Camavinga next summer.
An ankle injury ruled the Frenchman out of Madrid’s opening five La Liga fixtures. However, having been named as a substitute for the comeback win over Marseille in midweek, he made a return from the bench against Espanyol yesterday.
Camavinga is a technically gifted, athletic midfielder capable of playing as a deep-lying or box-to-box midfielder. But his versatility - a trait Eddie Howe values - has seen him deployed at left-back for club and country.
Newcastle United links emerge
The 23-year-old’s contract runs until 2029 but he has endured a frustrating time of late. A string of injury setbacks have allowed Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde to establish themselves as the preferred midfield pair.
Jude Bellingham - when fit - also pins down the No.10 spot. Camavinga remains a key player for Los Blancos but his game time could be one to watch this season.
Xabi Alonso on Eduardo Camavinga
Speaking last month, Madrid boss Xabi Alonso insisted Camavinga is part of his future plans. He said: “I’m eager to have him, because I’ve had him around, but not continuously. That’s what I want. He’ll contribute a lot, because he has many qualities as a modern footballer.
“He fits in with what we want to do and will have his place. In addition to being someone very well-liked by his teammates, he creates a lot of cohesion among the different players. That’s also important.”

“To score after his first start (against Ukraine in a friendly), that is honestly wonderful. I was truly happy for him. I only wish him the best and much more. He has everything for that. His future is in his hands. He is very at ease, he is a little dancer. He makes me think a bit about me. He is not a timid person."
