Real Madrid plot 2026 raid on Liverpool for £35 million midfield mainstay

Real Madrid are interested in acquiring the services of Liverpool midfield mainstay Alexis Mac Allister and could make a move in 2026.

According to Dean Jones via TEAMtalk, Real Madrid’s interest in Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister is genuine, and the Spanish giants could table an offer for the Argentine World Cup winner in the summer of 2026.

Mac Allister joined the Merseyside club in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £35 million, after making a name for himself at Brighton & Hove Albion. He has only gone from strength to strength since joining the Reds.

The 26-year-old central midfielder has been ever-present in Liverpool’s team, and he has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. While he remains an integral part of their plans under Arne Slot and his contract runs until the summer of 2028, Mac Allister’s future has become a big talking point amidst interest from Real Madrid.

Reports suggest Los Blancos have already reached a €120 million agreement with Liverpool for his transfer. While no deal has been agreed just yet, Jones has confirmed that the interest from the Spanish giants is genuine and they could knock on Liverpool’s door in the near future.

Dean Jones’s take on Real Madrid’s interest

While speaking about Mac Allister’s future, the transfer expert said: “There is no public stance from Liverpool on Mac Allister at the moment beyond they are planning for him to be a central figure in their team for the rest of the season.

“But the Real Madrid links seem genuine from checks I have made, but he is very down to earth and is not likely to agitate like some players would. Liverpool fans won’t want to hear about any transfer links between them and Madrid at the moment, but I would not go as far as saying he would be untouchable at the end of the season.”

Real Madrid could come calling

Liverpool are yet to make any comments on the Argentine playmaker’s future at the club. He remains an integral part of their plans going ahead, and they will certainly be reluctant to let him leave, given his importance in the team.

However, a move simply cannot be ruled out as the midfield mainstay seems interested in making a move to Spain, having talked about it in the past. The report suggests an offer of around €120 million could certainly force Liverpool to consider a potential sale.

The fact that Real Madrid’s interest in genuine is certainly a thing to worry about. Xabi Alonso seeks more quality in the centre of the park; he wants someone who can help him control the tempo of the game. Mac Allister certainly fits the bill, and Los Blancos do have the funds to make it happen in 2026..
