Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid will have to fork out €65 million to sign Liverpool midfield mainstay Ryan Gravenberch.
Real Madrid made quite a few additions to their squad in the recently concluded transfer window. While Xabi Alonso has a star-studded squad at his disposal, the Spanish manager is still not satisfied with the midfield options. He seeks more quality in the centre of the park, and the club have their eyes set on Ryan Gravenberch.
However, striking a deal with Liverpool won’t be that straightforward, and according to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid might have to fork out close to €65 million to sign the Dutch international, who has had a sensational rise under Arne Slot.
Gravenberch made a name for himself at Ajax. On the back of his sensational rise, Bayern Munich secured his services in the summer of 2022. Unfortunately, the move to the German club didn’t go according to plan for him, and he ended up joining Liverpool a year later in hopes of reviving his career.
While the debut season wasn’t that great, he has certainly been at his best since the arrival of Slot. The Dutch manager decided to use him as a defensive midfielder last season, and the 23-year-old has managed to make that position his own.
Real Madrid want Gravenberch
He has established himself as one of their mainstays, and his consistent performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Real Madrid, who were interested in his services back in the day, have reignited their interest in the Dutch midfielder.
Los Blancos seek more balance in midfield. Xabi Alonso wants someone who has a strong physical presence, is great with the defensive side of things and can also be a deep-lying playmaker. They consider the Liverpool star an ideal fit for that role and could launch a move for him in the near future.
Given the kind of maturity the 23-year-old has shown, Los Blancos feels he could prove to be a valuable addition for both the short and the long run. While Real Madrid are hoping that they can lure him away, Liverpool will try their best to keep hold of him.
With his contract running until 2028, they are certainly in a strong position with regard to his future. He is an important part of their plans, and they won’t let him leave easily. The Reds value him at €65 million, and Los Blancos will surely have to meet their demands to stand a chance of signing him.
