Erling Haaland would reportedly be open to a La Liga switch in the future, which may not happen anytime soon, given his long-term Manchester City contract.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, La Liga sides Barcelona and Real Madrid have been given hope of securing Erling Haaland sometime in the future. The Manchester City striker would reportedly be open to a switch to Spain if and when he leaves the Premier League giants, which might not be anytime soon.
There would hardly be a club in the world that would not want Erling Haaland in their team. The Norwegian striker came to Manchester City three seasons ago with high expectations, and he has managed to live up to each one of those.
130 goals in just over 150 games is the sign of one of the best strikers in the world, and Manchester City have done well to secure his future. Last summer, there were plenty of rumblings about La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona being keen on the 25-year-old, but Pep Guardiola’s side managed to secure his future with a nine-and-a-half-year deal last January.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta wants Erling Haaland at the club, with suggestions that the Spanish chief has stated he would sign him if re-elected as president. Given their current financial predicament, it’s difficult to envisage a deal for the Norwegian international, despite some rumours stating he would cost at least €100 million.
Manchester City would demand much more than double that price to sell Haaland, and there is no chance they will entertain offers anytime soon. Real Madrid are also keen, with some reports in the summer loosely stating a potential swap deal involving Vinicius Junior for the Norwegian.
Erling Haaland is open to a Spanish adventure
If and when Haaland leaves Manchester City, he would be open to playing in Spain, which might ideally be with Real Madrid or Barcelona. The prospect of that happening next summer or the one after that are remote to none, and even then, he would be a costly affair.
While his current deal will expire in 2034, it is not to say he will stay until then, as there is a big chance Erling Haaland could depart well before that deadline. Hence, Real Madrid and Barcelona will be alert to his situation in the future, with the Manchester City star likely to be high on their shortlist.
