Real Madrid attacking mainstay Vinicius Junior is open to a move to the Premier League; Arsenal and Liverpool have been alerted.
Vinicius Junior could end up parting ways with Real Madrid next summer. His future at the club is uncertain, and according to a report from TBR, Arsenal and Liverpool have been informed about the Brazilian international’s situation at the Spanish club.
The 25-year-old joined Los Blancos back in 2018 from Flamengo, and he has only gone from strength to strength since. Vinicius has not only established himself as a key figure in the team, but he is also widely regarded as one of the best attackers in the world.
He has won two Champions League titles, three league titles and finished 2nd in the Ballon d’Or last year. While he remains an integral part of their plans, his contract situation is a bit complicated.
Vinicius’ contract talks stall
With his current deal running out in 2027, Los Blancos have been working on a potential new deal. They were on the verge of securing his long-term future during the Club World Cup. Real Madrid were willing to offer him a significant pay hike that would have seen him earn close to €20 milllion-a-year.
However, the player’s representatives were looking for a more lucrative deal. They asked for significant bonuses, which could see the deal potentially worth close to €30 million. In simple terms, he was looking to be paid something similar to what Kylian Mbappe earns.
But Los Blancos were not willing to meet his demands, and the contract talks have been put on hold for now. Apart from his contract situation, his camp isn’t pleased with how Xabi Alonso has rotated him on the left flank. Vinicius has often been subbed off and has even started on the bench at times.
His long-term future at Santiago Bernabeu is far from certain, and the team in white have informed him that if he doesn’t pen a new deal by the end of the season, they will look to sell him next summer.
Arsenal and Liverpool could make a move
Multiple English clubs have been kept informed about his situation, as the player will prefer a move to the Premier League at this stage of his career. Arsenal and Liverpool are two clubs that have been sounded out.
While neither club has made any moves just yet, they do want to be kept in the loop, as they wouldn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to sign one of the best forwards in the world. Arsenal certainly need more quality on the left flank, and Vinicius will be a significant upgrade.
The Merseyside club have made quite a few attacking signings in the recent past, but even they would love to have someone like the Brazilian in their squad, as he could help them dominate Europe.
