Former Manchester United player Sergio Reguilon finds himself without a club at just 28 years old.
Reguilon signed for Tottenham Hotspur in 2020 and after two seasons of impressive performances he was loaned out to Atletico Madrid, United and Brentford.
Despite a promising start in north London, Reguilon found himself sidelined under former manager Ange Postecoglou. He is now a free agent following his release from Spurs in July. He made just six appearances in his final year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Hoping to revive his career, the Spanish star only managed 12 appearances for United after joining on transfer deadline day in 2023. His move to Old Trafford came about only after United failed to secure their primary target Marc Cucurella, who signed for Chelsea.
Reguilon had a patchy spell working under ex-United boss Erik ten Hag. He was in and out of the team before Ten Hag cut the deal short and sent him back to north London in the January transfer window of 2024.
His stint at United was such a contentious issue that former midfielder Roy Keane once got into a heated debate with ex-Liverpool ace Jamie Redknapp, after the latter claimed that Reguilon was a competent left-back.

Keane, referencing the player's single season at Real Madrid during 2018/2019, questioned: "Is that why Real Madrid let him go? Why did Real Madrid let him go?" Redknapp subsequently reinforced his position by responding: "Does that matter? Just because Real Madrid let him go doesn't make him a good player? He's a fantastic left-back."
Despite his short tenure at Old Trafford, Reguilon holds no grudges against United. "It has been great to play for Manchester United and I just want to say thank you to the club, the fans and my teammates," he said upon his departure, continuing: "It was a privilege to play for this huge club. I wish all the best for the Red Devils."
Following his exit from United, Reguilon subsequently moved to Brentford in January 2024, where he featured in 16 matches before departing during the summer and returning to Spurs for his contract's final year. Upon his arrival at Brentford, Reguilon commended their then-manager Thomas Frank, who now manages Tottenham.
He said: "I'm very happy, I think this is what I need now in this moment in my career. I want to meet my team-mates and play with them, and now just enjoy my football on the pitch.

"Thomas was key in this move, for me. I'm in a moment where I need to play consistently and I think this club can give me that. These six months, I will do everything for the team, but it's also important for my future. I'm happy after my conversation with Thomas; he knows me very well.
"We had many conversations about everything. I remember the first time was more than 40 minutes talking about football, about everything."
Reguilon is currently in search of a new club and has been associated with Everton. However, it's more probable that the Spaniard will return to his homeland, with Seville and Real Sociedad reportedly showing interest.
United will now face one of Reguilon's clubs on Saturday lunchtime as Ruben Amorim's side take on the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium in the Premier League.
