Man United star Casemiro was shown two yellow cards in the last game against Chelsea last weekend.

Man United’s game against Chelsea last weekend was eventful to say the least. The Red Devils saw Chelsea keeper Robert Sanchez sent off after five minutes, before Casemiro was sent off after receiving two yellow cards at Old Trafford.

Man United face Brentford in their next game on Saturday; meanwhile, Man City are looking to get back to winning ways with a clash against Burnley after their 1-1 draw against Premier League title rivals Arsenal at the Emirates.

But who are the ‘dirtiest’ teams in the league after five weeks, and how do Ruben Amorim’s and Pep Guardiola’s sides rank in terms of cards after an eventful game last week at Old Trafford.

The ‘dirtiest’ teams in the Premier League - table

1. Bournemouth - 14 yellow cards

2. Everton - 13 yellow cards

3. Crystal Palace - 13 yellow cards

4. Brighton - 13 yellow cards

5. Chelsea - 12 yellow cards

6. Fulham - 11 yellow cards

7. Liverpool - 10 yellow cards

8. Wolves - 10 yellow cards

9. Aston Villa - 9 yellow cards

10. Tottenham Hotspur - 9 yellow cards

11. Brentford - 9 yellow cards

12. Arsenal - 8 yellow cards

13. Sunderland - 7 yellow cards

14. Manchester City - 7 yellow cards

15. Leeds United - 6 yellow cards

16. Newcastle United - 6 yellow cards

17. Nottingham Forest - 6 yellow cards

18. Burnley - 6 yellow cards

19. West Ham - 4 yellow cards

20. Manchester United - 3 yellow cards

Man United are, based on yellow cards, the most disciplined side in the Premier League, despite Casemiro’s sending off last weekend. Bournemouth are the ‘dirtiest’ side in the league based on the fact that they have averaged almost three yellow cards per match.

How do Man United and Man City rank compared to last year?

Last season, Man City were the most disciplined side in the Premier League, which comes as no surprise, as under Pep Guardiola, City have consistently been a ‘clean’ team, based on the fact that they dominate possession, and tend not to play with the ‘desperation’ of some of the sides lower down in the league table.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils were 12th in terms of the dirtiest teams in the league last year, meaning that under Ruben Amorim, they have started this season with a consistently lower foul rate.

It comes as a surprise, as so far this season, Amorim’s side have had lower numbers in terms of possession, but their discipline has been much more impressive, potentially a sign that the Portuguese manager is finally getting the United players to play his style of football without having to rely on desperation.
