Ruben Amorim’s telling reaction to Man Utd’s performance in the 3-1 Premier League defeat to Brentford
United suffered their latest setback under Ruben Amorim and the Portuguese coach has already faced fierce criticism over the Red Devils’ start to the new season.
Speaking after Brentford’s 3-1 win over United, the ex-Sporting CP boss suggested that the Red Devils played the kind of match that the Bees wanted on Saturday.
Amorim was critical of United not taking control of the Premier League tie in the first half and said all of the “crucial moments” in the match went in favour of Brentford.
“Of course, we want to win,” he told TNT Sports, as per BBC Sport.
“We didn’t control the game. We played the game of Brentford. First balls, second balls, set pieces.
“All the crucial moments were against us. Tough to lose again, but we need to think about the next one.”
Amorim added: “The first goal was a long ball. We worked on that in the week, and on set pieces.
“We knew the long balls [were coming] and one touch, they had the opportunity. We need to do better.
“We didn’t play our game. We only had control for some moments. But it was more or less all the same.
“We need to play our games, not the opponents, but they were stronger on that.”

Ruben Amorim’s feelings are made clear to all of his Man Utd players after Brentford’s 3-0 win
United’s encounter with Brentford on Saturday afternoon was the club’s final clash in September, with the Red Devils already suffering three league defeats this season.
The Red Devils will host Sunderland at Old Trafford next Saturday ahead of the start of the October international break, with Amorim needing an immediate bounce back.
Amorim spoke about the pressure of being United manager and the Portuguese coach has insisted that his players must turn their attention to their next match.
“It is always the same to lose at this club; it hurts a lot,” he said.
“We need to think about the next one.”
United are 13th in the Premier League table at the time of writing and the Red Devils have won only two of their opening six league matches under Amorim.
