There is fresh pressure on Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim after their 3-1 defeat to Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
Amorim has collected just 34 points from his 33 Premier League games in charge of the club, and he has yet to manage back-to-back victories in the competition. United are next in action when they host Sunderland at Old Trafford next weekend, before a daunting trip to face Liverpool after the next international break.
United chiefs are desperate for Amorim to succeed at the club, with Ineos keen for the man they hired to be the one to eventually turn their fortunes around. There has been an emphasis on patience throughout Amorim’s tenure, though their glaring issues can’t be ignored, and there will be less sympathy as the season goes on.
A key factor in any managerial sacking would be who could take charge instead. Here is a look at the realistic options who might be up to the challenge.
