Report: Man Utd frontrunners to sign £370,000-a-week star in January, club want to sell

Manchester United are eyeing a surprise move for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in 2026, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Old Trafford side are reportedly monitoring the Serbia international ahead of his contract expiry, as Vlahovic is expected to depart Turin next year, either in January or as a free agent at the end of the season.

Juventus are aiming to cash in on Vlahovic before his deal runs out in June and are open to listening to offers in January, with his reported salary of £370,000-a-week proving to be a burden for the Serie A club.

Both Man United and Chelsea are reportedly interested in the 25-year-old, with the newspaper describing the Red Devils as 'front-runners', though it remains unclear if their interest will materialise as early as January.

Vlahovic has started the season well with Juventus, scoring four goals in his first five appearances and registering three goal contributions in their 4-4 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.

Dusan Vlahovic in action for Juventus

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are confident that some clubs will come knocking for Vlahovic in January, as they want to avoid losing the Serbia international on a free transfer in June.

The 25-year-old, who joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2022, has struggled to live up to expectations in Turin during his first three seasons and saw competition for places increase heavily this summer, with the arrivals of Jonathan David and Lois Openda up front.

As a result, Vlahovic has only been picked in the starting XI twice this term, but that has not stopped him from being productive, with the Serbian scoring four times already.

Man United have splashed out almost £200m on new forwards during the summer transfer window, with Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko arriving.

The Red Devils also sent Rasmus Hojlund on loan to Napoli, while Marcus Rashford, who is also capable of playing as a number nine, left on another temporary deal to Barcelona.

Both loan deals include options to buy at the end of the season, with Rashford’s fee set at £30m, while Hojlund could make a permanent move for £38m.
