Major Man Utd vs Sunderland prediction could show one 'pattern' that Gary Neville is 'worried' about, 'we've seen'...

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville initially struggled to answer ‘what is next’ for Manchester United after the Red Devils’ Premier League defeat to Brentford.

Ruben Amorim is under immense pressure after Manchester United fell to their third loss in their opening six Premier League matches in the 2025-26 campaign.

The Red Devils are 14th in the league table going into October and have only managed two league wins under United manager Ruben Amorim this season.

Brentford welcomed United to the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon and the Bees secured a superb 3-1 Premier League result over the Red Devils.

United were outclassed against Brentford in the opening 20 minutes, with Keith Andrews’ men benefiting from a sensational first-half brace from Igor Thiago.

Mathias Jensen sealed United’s fate in the Premier League clash after his long-range strike beat Altay Bayindir from outside of the box deep into second-half injury time.

Gary Neville was lost for words when he was asked what is next for United and the Sky Sports pundit turned his attention to the Sunderland match on Saturday.

“I think when it gets to this point, you’ve got to see what happens next Saturday against Sunderland,” he said on The Gary Neville Podcast.

“I think you’ve got a game at home against Sunderland. And Sunderland, as we know, are obviously in decent form.

“But if that game goes against Manchester United, you’re going to start seeing very, very, very big questions being asked of the ownership. Big questions. They brought a young manager in.

“He’s played a completely different system. They’ve invested in a completely different system. They brought [Patrick] Dorgu in and they brought other players.”

Gary Neville’s early prediction for Man Utd vs Sunderland at Old Trafford and his ‘worry’ for the Premier League club

United are back in action at Old Trafford against Sunderland for their first match in October and their only Premier League match ahead of the international break.

Neville insisted that United and Ruben Amorim need a win over Sunderland “more than ever” when the two Premier League sides meet at Old Trafford.

However, the 50-year-old United legend also expressed his deep ‘worry’ about United remaining in the bottom half of the table and a “pattern” starting to emerge.

“And if they were to be 14, 15, 16th in October, which is where I said at the start of the season, if Manchester United are where they are last season in October, it’s not a one-off,” Neville continued.

“It becomes what you are and it becomes a pattern and then managers come under huge pressure.”

The Sky Sports pundit added: “We’ve seen what’s happened with Graham Potter in the last few days. So, look, that’s why I’m worried.

“That’s why I’m worried because this is not going to go away and it’s going to build in the next week or so.

“And I think a victory is needed more than ever at Old Trafford on Saturday against Sunderland.”

The Premier League clash between 14th-place United and fifth-place Sunderland will kick off at 3pm in the UK at Old Trafford.
