Forget Glasner: 'Best coach in the world' wants Man Utd job, he's a huge Amorim upgrade [view]

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a host of managers, including Oliver Glasner and Xavi Hernandez, but the latter would be a better option for the Red Devils to pursue.

Although Ruben Amorim remains in charge at Old Trafford, it's been a difficult start to the season for the Red Devils. Amorim's overall tenure has been a disappointment, and he's undoubtedly under pressure to turn things around, with United currently sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

Amorim took over from Erik ten Hag in the early stages of the 2024/2025 campaign, but he's so far been unable to turn things around. The Portuguese manager has now been given a full summer transfer window and pre-season to get his message across and bring in new additions, but the Red Devils are 14th in the table, and the pressure has to be mounting on Amorim now.

Man Utd Should Target Xavi Over Glasner

Speaking on his YouTube channel GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that former Barcelona manager Xavi would take the United job 'immediately', with the Spanish coach keen on moving to the Premier League in the near future.

"“I can guarantee to you on Xavi Hernandez, as I also get many questions from Xavi and Manchester United, that Xavi is studying Premier League.

“Xavi is monitoring the Premier League. And Xavi would go immediately to Man United, even without European football, he would go immediately to the Premier League."

Described as 'the best coach in the world' by Joan Laporta, Xavi has plenty of experience managing a big club after his successes with Barcelona in La Liga. That's something that Xavi certainly has over Crystal Palace boss Glasner, who is usually in charge of sides competing outside of the Champions League.

During his time at Barcelona, Xavi won both La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, while he also brought home plenty of trophies with Al-Sadd in Qatar. Xavi is easily attainable considering he's keen on a move to Old Trafford and he's without a club as it stands, so if United do decide to sack Amorim, then they should be turning straight to the former Barcelona midfielder.

Xavi won't be fazed by the prospect of managing a club the size of United, considering he's already managed Barcelona, so it could be the ideal fit, and he'd be a huge upgrade on Amorim.
