Manchester Evening News readers are once again discussing the manager's situation, with Oliver Glasner's name frequently mentioned as a frontrunner.
Oliver Glasner has declined to dismiss the possibility of succeeding Ruben Amorim after acknowledging he's conscious of reports connecting him with Manchester United.
The Red Devils' disappointing beginning to the season persisted over the weekend when they suffered a 3-1 defeat against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.
As the MEN reported on Monday morning, Amorim continues to have the support of the United hierarchy despite the loss to the Bees, and no successor is currently being considered.
Nevertheless, that hasn't prevented conjecture surrounding the 40 year old's future at Old Trafford.
Following his success in leading Crystal Palace to FA Cup triumph last season and with just 12 months remaining on his Selhurst Park deal, Oliver Glasner is the bookmakers' preferred choice to take over from Amorim.
When questioned directly about the speculation linking him with United and other 'top clubs' by the Austrian version of Kicker, he responded: "I follow all the rumours – and that's all there is – neutrally and completely relaxed.
"Focusing on the daily work with my players and coaches, and trying to enjoy it as much as possible."
One reader, Jimmy81lc writes: "Oliver Glasner is head and shoulders above amorim, not only with Palace but with Eintract and wolfsberg too. He's only 51 with a wealth of experience at the top level. United should not waste any more time with amorim, even if we beat Sunderland it is just delaying the inevitable. Chelsea are going through a rough patch and we all know how trigger happy they are, they will be in for Glasner in a flash."
Jasper JH simply says: "Taxi for Amorim. Private jet for Glasner. Today."
While Rudd feels: "A dominating 5-0 win over Sunderland would be the only thing that will convince. The worse case is to draw or sneak through with a marginal win that buys time for the rot to fester."
Duff. comments: "I honestly cannot believe we are talking about if we beat a newly promoted team at home! The man's stubborn refusal to change is mystifying? Surely he's stamping his card for the future after United - who's going to want him with this kind of attitude."
MonkeyNutz adds: "Didn’t Ralph Rangnick suggest United get Glasner and they ignored him? and we got Ten Haag, we need a premier league proven manager this time and only Glasner and Iraola look as though they might be willing to come now Frank has joined Spurs.
"Think Oliver Glasner would be an ideal fit, I’m really enjoying watching Palace at the moment and he is a premier league proven manager, he had lost most of his star players and they are the only premier league team not to lose so far this season, if he won’t come then Iraola looks like another premier league accomplished manager, no more foreign league managers the premier league is too difficult for them, and not Southgate he failed as a league manager and with the quality of England squads he had it’s criminal that he didn’t win anything."
