Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler has responded to claims that he is being considered as a potential managerial candidate if Ruben Amorim is sacked.
Ruben Amorim has been at Manchester United since November, following a successful spell at Sporting CP, winning two league titles after transforming the team.
It has been almost 11 months since Amorim arrived at Old Trafford, but sadly, results have worsened. This has led to increased pressure for the 40-year-old, with doubts over his future as United head coach.
After United’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford on Saturday, Amorim has overseen three Premier League defeats from the first six games of the 2025/26 campaign.
Only time will tell if Ineos decide to change managers midseason, but several potential candidates have been tipped in the media over the weekend.
It is understood that Michael Carrick has been sounded out as a potential interim if Amorim is sacked, while former United goalkeeper Ben Foster has made a case for Oliver Glasner, who has done an impressive job with Crystal Palace.

Fabian Hürzeler responds to Man Utd links
Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler kept his cards close to his chest when he was asked about the United managerial position amid the ongoing pressure on Amorim.
Although Brighton have managed just two wins from six games, like United, Hürzeler is considered one of the top up-and-coming managers in the league.

Of course, Hürzeler isn’t the only Brighton employee on United’s radar.
The Red Devils wanted Carlos Baleba in the summer, but the midfield ace has had a difficult start to the season. Hürzeler admitted that links to United are playing on Baleba’s mind.
Brighton fans will hope the same thing doesn’t happen to Hürzeler, after he refused to be drawn into talk regarding the United job.
“Tough decisions and rumours are always part of this job so you have to accept it, you have to deal with it, but I really want to say that I have a lot of respect for Ruben Amorim, so I won’t talk about his job or any rumours that might come,” Hürzeler told Sky Sports, as quoted by The Mirror.
“Regarding him, I’m really privileged to be a coach for Brighton and Hove Albion, I’m very happy here and we still have a lot of work to do.”
There is nothing to suggest Ineos are on the verge of sacking Amorim, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe understood to be keen on giving the coach more time to turn things around.
How did Ruben Amorim get on against Hürzeler?
Brighton did the double over United last season, but Erik ten Hag was in charge for the 2-1 defeat in August 2024.
Amorim was in the dugout to face Hürzeler for the first time earlier this year, when United lost 3-1 against Brighton.
Bruno Fernandes made it 1-1 from the penalty spot after 23 minutes, but the Seagulls scored twice in the second half to secure three points.
United will be looking for a better result when Brighton visit Old Trafford at the end of October.
