Manchester United could consider a surprise move for Como manager Cesc Fabregas if Ruben Amorim is sacked, according to FourFourTwo.
The Old Trafford side are contemplating a change in the dugout after a disappointing start to the Premier League season, and there is reportedly a possibility that Fabregas could make their managerial shortlist if they decide to part ways with Amorim.
The Portuguese tactician, who joined United in November last year, is under heavy scrutiny after winning just two out of six league matches this season, with last weekend’s 3-1 loss at Brentford piling even more pressure on him.
Amorim has yet to win back-to-back league games since taking charge at Old Trafford 11 months ago and has collected just 34 points from his 33 top-flight matches.
Sacking Amorim before his first work anniversary on November 1 would cost United £12m, making the possibility of his exit in October less likely, even though the club are already looking at several potential replacements.

COMO CESC FABREGAS
Fabregas, who took over as Como boss in the summer of 2024, led the Italian club to 10th in Serie A in his first season, winning 13 of 38 games.
Como also broke their record for most consecutive Serie A wins last term under Fabregas, as they won six in a row and lost just once in their last nine league matches.
The Italian club have suffered just one loss in their opening five games of the 2025/26 campaign, winning twice, and are sitting eighth in Serie A following last weekend’s 1-1 draw with Cremonese.
Fabregas, who has played in the Premier League with Arsenal and Chelsea, has been heavily credited with making Como a formidable force in Serie A since their promotion in 2024, with analyst Ben Mattinson praising him as Europe’s ‘next elite coach’.
Man United are believed to be looking at several potential replacements for Amorim at the moment, including Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner and Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola.
According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs, Glasner would be open to joining Man United following his impressive spell at Palace, where he delivered the club’s first-ever trophy, the FA Cup, last term.
United are also said to be an attractive destination for former Barcelona boss Xavi, who is studying the Premier League closely and would be open to joining without European football.
