Mbappe Leads Real Madrid's Attack

Follow-up - INA

French striker Kylian Mbappe has become the absolute leader of Real Madrid's attack, having become the cornerstone of Xabi Alonso's system, despite the latter's insistence on the importance of "team spirit." Last season, Mbappé contributed to 29.7% of the team's goals, while this season, the figure jumped to 56.5%.

Mbappe has scored 13 goals in his first nine La Liga matches, a fiery start that contrasts with his turbulent start in the Whites' shirt. After a period of adaptation, a summer free of transfer rumors, and wearing the number 10 shirt, the French striker is enjoying his best spell with Real Madrid. He has only missed a single match against Mallorca, when two of his goals were disallowed for offside.

In La Liga, Mbappe has scored eight goals in seven rounds, out of the team's 16, nearly half of the tally. In the Champions League, his influence was even greater, as he scored 5 of the team's 7 goals (71.4%), including a historic hat-trick against Kairat Almaty, equaling Filippo Inzaghi's record (4) for hat-tricks in the competition.

Alonso, despite his reliance on rotation and resting the stars, has yet to leave Mbappe out of the starting lineup. He has started all nine matches and played 788 minutes, more than any other player on the team.
