Ruben Amorim's first full season at Manchester United has been a struggle and that can be inferred in the dwindling value of many of his players

Manchester United's poor performances has resulted in a large number of players losing considerable transfer value.
Ruben Amorim's first full season in charge is proving to be as cumbersome as his opening months at the club. As their position in the Premier League continues to tumble, so too does the value of many Red Devils.
Tyrell Malacia has seen his market value nosedive under the Portuguese boss. Malacia hasn't set foot on the pitch for United this season, with his last appearance in a Red Devils jersey dating back to January last year against Fulham, when Erik ten Hag was still in charge.
Subsequently, he was loaned out to PSV Eindhoven and even expressed his desire to leave United during the summer transfer window. Despite this, Malacia remains at Old Trafford and only returned to first-team training on Tuesday.
The Manchester Evening News reports it was always United's plan to have Malacia rejoin first-team training. The defender's market value has suffered a significant blow over the past year. When Amorim took charge in November last year, Transfermarkt valued Malacia at £15.7m. Now, his worth has shrunk to a mere £7m, marking a decrease of £8.7m in less than a year.
The future is uncertain for Malacia and it's unclear whether he'll get another chance to play in the Premier League, especially with a game against Sunderland on the horizon this weekend. In their defeat to Brentford, Amorim chose Patrick Dorgu for the left-wing-back position, while Luke Shaw has often been used as a left-sided centre-back.
Diogo Dalot is back in the matchday squad, potentially taking up a position at right-wing-back, leaving questions about where Amorim might deploy Malacia if the defender is recalled for the Sunderland match. Kobbie Mainoo is another player whose market value has suffered under Amorim's stewardship.

The midfielder's value has reportedly fallen from £48m to £43.6m. Luke Shaw's worth has also taken a hit, dropping from £24.4m to £10.5m since last year. It's a similar story for Mason Mount, whose value has also decreased from £24.4m to £10.5m.
Three summer 2024 signings have also seen their values decline. Matthijs de Ligt (£48m to £33m), Manuel Ugarte (£43.6m to £39.3m) and Joshua Zirkzee (£36.7m to £26.2m) have all experienced a drop in their market values since Amorim took charge. The total of these valuation changes, including Malacia, amounts to £63m.
This comes as Amorim has struggled to make an impact since succeeding Erik ten Hag. The 40-year-old could only steer the club to a 15th-place finish in the Premier League last season, largely with a squad that didn't fit his system.

However, after receiving full support from the board this summer and having a complete pre-season, Amorim won't be able to use the same excuse for poor performance this season. Currently, United are 14th in the league standings with two victories and three defeats from their first six matches.
The club also suffered the humiliation of being knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby Town in August, losing on penalties after a poor performance away from home. While Amorim is undoubtedly under pressure to deliver results, he may not have much time left to change the club's fortunes.
With upcoming matches against an on-fire Sunderland, reigning Premier League champions Liverpool, Brighton, Nottingham Forest and Spurs, United's situation could deteriorate further over the next month or so.
