Everton Recall Defender from Loan at Nottingham Forest

Everton have recalled defender Issy Hobson from her loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the Women’s Super League 2. The 17-year-old England U19 international impressed in her brief stint, featuring in Forest’s FA Women’s League Cup tie against Newcastle United. Hobson returns due to an injury crisis in the Everton squad.

This wasn’t her first loan move, she spent the second half of last season with Sheffield United, and had already made eight senior appearances for Everton before that. She will now be available for selection in the upcoming match against Leicester City.

The Toffees began the 2025/26 [WSL](https://womenfootball.blog/womens-super-league-table-standings/) season in style with a 4-1 away win over Liverpool. Cornelia Kapocs opened the scoring for the Reds in the 12th minute, but Everton hit back as summer signing Ornella Vignola announced herself with a stunning hat-trick. Katja Snoeijs also added her name to the scoresheet.

Since then, however, things have gone off track. Everton fell 2-0 at home to Tottenham Hotspur, before losing to London City Lionesses, where Isobel Goodwin struck twice and Momiki pulled one back from the penalty spot. A 3-1 League Cup defeat to Manchester City followed, along with a disappointing 1-0 loss to Brighton & Hove Albion in the league.

As a result, Everton sit 7th in the table with three points, preparing for a crucial clash against Leicester City. The Foxes are level on points, having also lost three of their four league fixtures, though they did pick up a League Cup win over Ipswich Town. Everton’s last victory away at Leicester came back in 2021, when Simone Magill scored the winner in the 80th minute.
