Opinion: Beto has already made it clear which Everton player should replace Kiernan…

Everton striker Beto could thrive this weekend if David Moyes listens to his previous comments ahead of his team selection.

Moyes faces a real selection headache as the 62-year-old will be without Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall following his suspension on Monday evening.

After receiving another baffling yellow card, Moyes was furious with referee Sam Barrott who harshly penalised the Everton midfielder.

It is a decision which Everton are going to have to live with, but it has been widely criticised by fans and pundits across the Premier League.

TalkSPORT’s Darren Bent has urged a rule change for the yellow card threshold to be raised from five, given the number of soft cards being handed out.

Three big points are on the line for the Toffees, and for one player, there will be a big opportunity to make an impression on Moyes.

Beto has already praised one Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall alternative at Everton

Last season, under Moyes, Beto showed he is capable of stringing a run of games together where he can find the back of the net.

This simply has not been the case this time around, with Moyes left disappointed with Beto over the pre-season efforts.

However, the forced change this weekend could see Moyes hand Carlos Alcaraz a place in the starting XI, which would definitely please Beto.

“It comes naturally because he has one style of playing that matches with mine,” Beto praised Alcaraz before he signed permanently over the summer.

“He likes to turn and drive with the ball and make the final pass. It’s something I like, when a player gets the ball and drives. It gives me time to do my movements.

“He’s a really good player, I like to play with him and he always says, ‘Beto, today I will make you an assist’, so we have this connection. He’s a really good guy and good player.”

Alcaraz scored the first goal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium during a pre-season friendly against Port Vale.

The Argentine’s opportunities have been few and far between this season following the signings of Grealish and Dewsbury-Hall.

But his opportunity may well come at the weekend, with Moyes potentially trusting his experience over Tyler Dibling’s.

Carlos Alcaraz could get the best out of Beto again

Robbie Earle has urged Moyes to select Alcaraz for the game on Sunday against the Eagles.

It is even believed that, last season, Moyes demanded the Friedkins to sign Alcaraz permanently following his impressive loan stint at the club.

Owen Hargreaves hailed Alcaraz for an assist he provided Beto last season, which is exactly what Everton fans will want to see this weekend.

It is about time Everton’s strikers start providing the goods in front of goal, and perhaps Alcaraz could be the key to unlock Beto.

The Argentine has only started the opening Premier League game this season, with his minutes since limited from the bench.

Not only could the midfielder possibly unlock Beto, but he also has to show Moyes exactly why he should be considered for the starting XI.
