Two former Everton forwards score as ex-Toffees striker bags the winner in dramatic La Liga…

Everton fans did not see the best of Arnaut Danjuma or Salomon Rondon, but both players are still scoring goals in Spain.

Everton’s record with forwards hasn’t exactly been stellar in recent times.

Beto has not impressed this season, and while Thierno Barry is one for the future, he has yet to really settle in.

Youssef Chermiti barely made an impact, Armando Broja’s loan spell was entirely forgettable, and Neal Maupay couldn’t provide consistent goals.

Ex-Everton duo Arnaut Danjuma and Salomon Rondon score in dramatic La Liga clash

The list of disappointing striking additions should also feature Arnaut Danjuma and Salomon Rondon.

Danjuma snubbed Everton for Tottenham Hotspur in January 2023, but finally made the move to Merseyside just months later.

Sadly, it wasn’t worth the wait as Danjuma scored just two goals in 20 appearances for Everton.

Rondon was snapped up by Rafael Benitez after previously working together at Newcastle United and Dalian Pro.

The Venezuelan struggled enormously, scoring just three times before having his contract terminated.

Both forwards are now in La Liga, and actually faced each other on Tuesday night as Danjuma’s Valencia battled Rondon’s Real Oviedo.

Danjuma opened the scoring for Valencia, but late drama gave Rondon the last laugh.

Luka Ilic drew Oviedo level on 85 minutes before Rondon won it moments later, completing a dramatic comeback.

Ilic even saw red in injury-time, but newly-promoted Oviedo held on for the win with Rondon proving to be the hero.

Salomon Rondon has been scoring goals since Everton exit

Rondon’s move to Everton simply didn’t work out, and fans were far from impressed with the Venezuelan forward.

Benitez couldn’t help Rondon recapture his Newcastle form, but he has been in the goals since leaving Merseyside.

Rondon scored 10 goals in 37 games for Argentinian side River Plate before heading to Mexico with Pachuca.

Mexico proved to be a great home for Rondon as he racked up 36 goals in just 70 appearances.

Of course, football in Argentina and Mexico is not particularly close to the level of Premier League action.

Rondon has managed to bounce back from his dismal Everton spell, though, and could be a key man in Real Oviedo’s attempts to stay in La Liga.
