Seahawks' initial Week 5 injury report includes 4 DNPs

Four players, including three key members of the defense, did not practice for the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday.

Cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee), safety Julian Love (hamstring), defensive end Demarcus Lawrence (quadricep) and offensive lineman Josh Jones (ankle) were each held out of Seattle’s practice as it prepares for a Sunday matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Additionally, rookie safety Nick Emmanwori (ankle) and wide receiver Cody White (shoulder) were listed on Seattle’s initial injury report for Week 5. However, both were full participants at practice.

Witherspoon and Love each played through injuries to make their returns during Seattle’s 23-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals last Thursday. Witherspoon had missed the past two games and Love was held out in Week 3.

Lawrence was injured during the final play of the first quarter against the Cardinals and did not return. Head coach Mike Macdonald before Wednesday’s practice said the team is taking things “day by day” with Lawrence, and that the veteran defensive lineman is not expected to go on injured reserve, which would require him to miss at least four games.

Jones, a backup who can play both tackle and guard, missed last week’s game with the ankle injury.

Emmanwori is looking to make his return after suffering an ankle injury during the first quarter of the season opener against San Francisco. The 2025 second-round pick logged just five snaps in his debut before exiting.

White, who has bounced between Seattle’s 53-man roster and practice squad this season, last played in Week 1. He was among the Seahawks’ seven inactive players against the Cardinals.
