Rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders was all over social media on Wednesday, and not because he's any closer to starting a game for the Cleveland Browns.
In fact, it's quite the opposite.
Fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel was named Cleveland's new starting quarterback, replacing veteran Joe Flacco, while Sanders is still relegated to emergency third quarterback duties while running the scout team defense.
But despite Gabriel getting his NFL moment leading into Sunday's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings in London, it was Sanders who stole the show on Wednesday when reporters asked him about the Browns' big QB switch.
Sanders fielded several questions from reporters, but instead of answering them, he simply stood at his locker and pantomimed his responses.
The 23-year-old's unorthodox interview tactics drew some animated responses from thousands on social media, but one reaction that stood out above the rest came from Sanders' father, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders.
"ππππππππππGood 1 son. You did that," Deion commented on Instagram.
Deion has been one of Shedeur's most vocal supporters.
So after it was revealed by Deion Sanders Jr.'s media company Well Off on Instagram that the silent interview actually had nothing to do with Gabriel but was a clap back at former NFL head coach Rex Ryan, Shedeur's message was unquestionably one that Deion could get behind.
Ryan called the rookie fifth-round pick an embarrassment earlier this week on ESPN's "Get Up."
"This kid talks and he runs his mouth," Ryan said. "Like he said, βI can be a starting quarterback' with his arms crossed like this. Get your [expletive] in the front row and study and do all that.
"If I know, the whole league knows. Quit being an embarrassment that way. Youβve got the talent to be the quarterback, you should be. You should be embarrassed that youβre not the quarterback now."
