Two Delta regional jets collide at New York LaGuardia Airport

A serious incident occurred on Wednesday, October 1st, at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, U.S. when two Delta Connection CRJ900 regional jets made contact during taxi operations, resulting in significant damage to one aircraft.

Delta Air Lines flight DL5047 (N480PX) had just arrived from Charlotte when it was struck by DL5155 (N902XJ), which was taxiing for departure to Roanoke. The collision caused the wing of one aircraft to be torn off in the impact.

Authorities confirmed that at least one passenger was injured in the incident. Emergency services responded quickly, and passengers were assisted in deplaning.

Flight operations at LaGuardia were temporarily affected as ground crews and investigators secured the scene. Both aircraft remain out of service pending inspection.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are expected to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Delta Air Lines has not yet released a detailed statement but said it is cooperating fully with authorities.
