The Cleveland Browns are having a dissapointing start to the 2025 campaign. A year after earning the rights to the second overall pick in the draft, the Browns are 1-3 and looking as if they’re going to have another disastrous season.
Things have gotten so bad in Cleveland that head coach Kevin Stefanski is deciding to make a change at quarterback, according to one prominent NFL insider.
Change in Cleveland: Browns are benching veteran QB Joe Flacco in favor of rookie QB Dillon Gabriel, per sources. The Browns were informed of the change this morning. Gabriel’s first NFL start comes Sunday in London vs. the Vikings,” [reported ESPN’s senior NFL insider Adam Schefter.](https://x.com/AdamSchefter/status/1973363482646184189)
Schefter then revealed something shocking about how Stefanski is shaking up the depth chart.
“Joe Flacco will serve as Dillon Gabriel’s backup and Shedeur Sanders will remain Cleveland’s third-string QB.”
Fans reacted to the news that Sanders was staying buried in the QB3 role on social media.
“Makes sense. If sanders is going to play they are going to want to prepare him as the starter and not be forced into a bad position cuz someone got hurt,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“Interesting move—Flacco brings experience behind Gabriel, and keeping Shedeur third-string gives him time to develop without pressure,” another fan added.
“Gabriel for a four game stretch, if he’s not the guy give it to Sanders. Maybe both can be great, maybe neither are starters but Flacco isn’t the answer,” someone else added.
It’ll be interesting to see if Sanders ever gets the opportunity to take the field in Cleveland.
