Welcome Davis Suppes to the Good Morning Suncoast Anchor Team

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Davis started at ABC 7 on September 2nd, 2025, and will be joining the Good Morning Suncoast team every weekday morning at the anchor desk.

Davis was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and is an avid Chiefs and Royals fan. He has two brothers, Zach and Tyler, and one older sister, Skylar, who is married, adding a brother-in-law, Jared,  and his parents, Derek and Tina, are a huge part of his life, along with the rest of his family. Davis followed in his sister’s footsteps and attended the University of Missouri, where he majored in Broadcast Journalism with an emphasis in sports reporting and atmospheric science. He also worked at the local NBC affiliate KOMU 8 News in Columbia, Missouri, while attending college, where he learned how to produce, anchor, report, and lead weather forecasts.

Also, while at the University of Missouri, Davis joined the cheerleading squad after losing a bet that the Chiefs would beat the Patriots in the 2019 AFC Championship game in Kansas City. After losing the bet, Davis attended a cheerleading clinic at Mizzou where they taught him how to do a backflip and stunt with the other athletes. The coaches asked Davis to come to tryouts after the clinic, and that led Davis to cheer on the team for four years. He got to have front row seats to every Mizzou football, basketball, and volleyball game, including getting to lead the team on road games at Auburn, the University of Florida, Nashville, Knoxville, Tennessee, the University of Kentucky, the University of Arkansas, and even SEC tournaments and bowl games in Tampa! As a reporter, Davis got to cover the University of Missouri Cheer Squad winning back-to-back national championships at the NCA Collegiate National Championships for Cheer and Dance in Daytona, Florida in 2023 and 2024. Davis’s close relationships with the coaching staff and athletes helped bring exclusive interviews and unique storytelling to a sport that can often be ignored from the spotlight despite all the hard work that goes into cheerleading.

After graduating, Davis accepted a job in Greenville, North Carolina, as a reporter, producer, and anchor, before being promoted to their senior reporter role for over a year. There, Davis won the North Carolina RTDNAC Reporter of the Year Award for 2024-2025 and was a finalist for the award in 2023-2024. He got to cover a wide variety of stories, from hurricane coverage to meeting NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., and plenty of coverage for the East Carolina University Pirates, which is located there in Greenville as well. Davis worked on more than a thousand stories during his two years in Greenville before accepting the job with ABC 7.

When Davis isn’t hard at work, he enjoys golfing, exercise, watching movies, and enjoying his new home with close access to the beach. Davis is always looking for new friends to tailgate with or go to any sporting event, as he loves live sports and the camaraderie that rooting for a team in their home stadium brings. Be warned, Davis loves competing in any athleisure activity like cornhole, mini-golf, pickleball, basketball, or even fun board/ card games with friends and family so he is very competitive. He does miss getting to hang out with his friends and family in Kansas City, but he is very excited for all the new friends and family that he will make here in Sarasota.

If you meet Davis out in person, say hello with a friendly smile, and he will gladly greet you back! He is constantly looking for recommendations around his new Sarasota/ Bradenton home, whether that is restaurants, live music, events, and more, so if you have one, message him at davis.suppes@wwsb.tv.
