Supercomputer gives fresh prediction on where Everton will finish this season after latest…

Everton made a really positive start to the new season, but they’ve tailed off a little bit in recent weeks.

David Moyes’ side are winless in three, having suffered defeats to Liverpool and Wolves before a score draw against West Ham United on Monday.

Everton currently reside in ninth place in the Premier League table, so they’re still in a decent position with the October international break approaching.

After the latest results, Opta’s supercomputer has made a fresh prediction on where the Toffees will finish in the Premier League this season.

Supercomputer makes fresh Everton prediction on where they’ll finish

Before the season began, Opta predicted Everton to finish in 13th place, which is some way below the target Moyes has set.

The Toffees boss has been clear that he wants to return the club to Europe this season, so that’ll have to be an eighth-place finish at the very least.

The supercomputer’s fresh prediction has them finishing in 12th on 48 points, so clearly the data isn’t particularly convincing.

The predicted table has Bournemouth in eighth and Brighton in seventh, both on 55 points, so they’re not too far off from Europe.

6 Newcastle 57

7 Brighton 55

8 Bournemouth 55

9 Tottenham 54

10 Aston Villa 53

11 Brentford 48

12 Everton 48

Opta’s predicted table

Indeed, if that prediction were to materialise, it’d be an underwhelming season as Moyes’ side finished on 48 points last term, so there’d be no improvement on that front.

Everton need to solve striker woes to get in Europe

The difference between Everton finishing in mid-table and getting into Europe will be whether they can get one of Beto or Thierno Barry going.

Neither have been convincing this season, although Barry has been tasked with making an impact from the bench, so he’s not had a consistent run in the team.

The France under-21 international will surely get his second league start of the season against Crystal Palace, and regardless of whether he scores, he should retain his spot.

Barry, who arrived in a £30m deal from Villarreal, needs to find his rhythm, and he’s proven at his previous clubs that the goals will come when he’s trusted.
