“We will deport you” is the chilling message that a member of the Trump administration has sent following the announcement that Bad Bunny will be headlining the Superbowl half time show next year.

On Sunday (28 September) it was confirmed that the “DTMF” singer would headline the show he appeared in while supporting J-Lo and Shakira in 2020. The announcement was cause for celebration for many, as it means that Bad Bunny will become the first Latin performer to solo headline the always-anticipated show.

Speaking to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe on Monday Bad Bunny said he was going to “embrace the moment.” He also said, “I’m going to show what we have, our music, our culture. I’m just going to the stage to enjoy and have fun.”

However, predictably, there has been some backlash from those on the far-right, and among Republicans.

Recent comments by Corey Lewandowski. President Trump’s one-time campaign manager and Department of Homeland Security advisor, have taken this backlash to a whole new level. Speaking on Benny Johnson’s web series, The Benny Show, this week, he issued a chilling threat:

“There is nowhere that you can provide safe haven to people in this country illegally,” he said. “Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find you, we will apprehend you, we will put you in a detention facility, and we will deport you. So know that that is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to how it used to be.”

Lewandowski also criticised Bad Bunny as someone who “seems to hate America so much.” And in entirely shameless remarks, given the US government’s attacks on trans people, immigrants, and just about everyone else, he opined, “We should be trying to be inclusive, not exclusive.”

CONFIRMED: ICE will be active and on-site at Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance.

Trump Advisor Corey Lewandowski warns: there’s no place ICE won’t go to remove criminal aliens from the US, even the Super Bowl:

He also said the US government is “going to do enforcement everywhere,” adding, “We are going to make Americans safe.” Lewandowski then said, “If you’re in this country illegally, do yourself a favor: Go home.” He also branded the NFL “woke”

Bad Bunny’s performance at the Superbowl currently would be his only US performance in 2026. His Debí Tirar Más Fotos World Tour kicks off in December 2025 and runs through July 2026, with no North American dates on the schedule.

He told I-D magazine last month that one reason for not putting on any US shows was because “f***ing ICE could be outside. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
