Two regional jets operated by Delta Air Lines subsidiary Endeavor Air collided on a taxiway at New York’s LaGuardia airport, with both aircraft apparently sustaining significant damage.
The collision occurred around 22:00 local time on 1 October, Delta confirms. Both MHI RJ CRJ900s were operating under the Delta Connection brand.
An Endeavor flight attendant sustained a minor injury from the accident, which Delta describes as a “low-speed collision between one arriving and one departing” aircraft.
Endeavor flight 5155 was taxiing for departure to Roanoke, Virginia, while Endeavor flight 5047, arriving from Charlotte, was taxiing to a gate.
”Preliminary information indicates contact by the wing of the departing aircraft was made with the fuselage of the arriving aircraft,” Delta says.
Images circulating on social media show significant damage to the nose and cockpit of one CRJ900, while the collision appears to have partially sheared off the right wing of the other.

Passengers aboard both aircraft went to the terminal on a bus and were “provided with food and beverages”, Delta says. No passengers reported injuries, according to the airline.
”Customers received hotel rooms and meals along with re-bookings for 2 October,” the airline adds.
Delta pledges to ”work with all relevant authorities to review what occurred, as [the] safety of our customers and people comes before all else. We apologise to our customers for the experience”.
The injured Endeavor flight attendant received treatment from medics on the scene, Delta says. “Endeavor and Delta will ensure support for this flight attendant.”
Delta is working with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, the Federal Aviation Administration and the US National Transportation Safety Board to probe the accident’s circumstances.
