Weather could be a factor in Chiefs’ game Monday night at Jacksonville

There were four weather advisories on Thursday that were either in effect or about to start in Jacksonville, Florida.

There’s a Coastal Flood Advisory in effect until Friday. There’s a Rip Current Statement and also a High Surf Advisory, both of which last until Monday morning. And a Coastal Flood Watch starts Friday and runs until Monday.

Plus, rain and thunderstorms are in the Jacksonville forecast through the weekend.

The Chiefs will be in Jacksonville for a “Monday Night Football” game at EverBank Stadium against the Jaguars, and it’s possible the forecast could improve in the coming days. However, Chiefs coach Andy Reid acknowledged Thursday that weather could be a factor.

Reid mentioned the forecast while talking about turnovers. The Jaguars lead the NFL with 13 turnovers created, and their nine interceptions are also the most in the league.

The Chiefs have turned the ball over just once this season.

“The guys have done a nice job keeping it high and tight when needed, and not having tipped balls, all the things that kind of lead to those (turnovers),” Reid said. “And then, you know, this is a potential weather game, so you add that into it, too. You’ve got to make sure that you really take care of the football.”

Here are three forecasts ... and it also seems possible that things could improve by Monday night.

The News 4 Jax forecast shows a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday with a high temperature of 81 degrees.

The National Weather Service has this forecast for Monday night: “A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 73. Chance of precipitation is 30%.”

Accuweather’s projected high temperature is 84 degrees and humid. This is the forecast: “Intervals of clouds and sunshine with a couple of showers and a thunderstorm.”
