The part of the NFL business that is not often discussed is the number of times a player can be cut and signed during the regular season.
On Thursday, the Philadelphia Eagles showed that by releasing cornerback Eli Ricks and rookie draft pick edge rusher Antwaun Powell-Ryland. To replace both on the practice squad, the Eagles signed defensive tackle Jacob Sykes and defensive end K.J. Henry
Since the end of training camp, Ricks and Powell-Ryland have fallen victim to the NFL's trends, as both have been cut and signed by the Eagles multiple times. Neither player has yet been active in a game. Sykes also knows all too well this case, as he has gone through the same thing with the Eagles this season, but this time is on the right side of it.
Henry is a familiar face to the Eagles, as he spent part of last season with the team on their practice squad and won a Super Bowl with them. He was with the Cleveland Browns until they released him from their practice squad last week.
What are the latest moves by the Eagles telling fans?
This might be a telling sign that the Eagles are preparing for whatever could come from the Jalen Carter injury. Carter was limited in practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury that has been bothering him for weeks. If, for some reason, he can't play, Sykes could be called up at the last second from the practice squad to play.
Henry is also an insurance policy with the number of edge rusher injuries the team has, with Nolan Smith Jr. and Ogbo Okoronkwo currently on IR. Azeez Ojulari might get his chance to be active for the first time this season, and Henry is the backup in case another injury occurs.

Don't be surprised if Ricks and Powell-Ryland find their way back on the practice squad. The Eagles are just trying to navigate through the injuries they currently have.
