Jordan Pickford says there is one silver lining about Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's Everton suspension

Everton return to Premier League action this weekend as they take on Crystal Palace.

David Moyes’ side welcome high-flying Crystal Palace to the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon and will be keen to end their three-game winless run.

Everton struggled to create clear-cut chances in the 1-1 draw against West Ham United on Monday, so Moyes will have been working on that aspect of their game in training.

Frustratingly, the Scotsman will be without playmaker Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall as he has to serve a one-game suspension.

Although Jordan Pickford says there is a silver lining in that.

Jordan Pickford explains silver lining in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s suspension

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Pickford questioned the controversial decision to yellow card Dewsbury-Hall against West Ham but explained why there is a silver lining despite the one-game ban.

“You don’t take any team lightly,” the Everton goalkeeper said ahead of Crystal Palace.

“It’s about us turning up. Kiernan is suspended, which is unfortunate, but I don’t know if that is a booking again.

“That’s two unlucky bookings, which has not been great for us, but it gives someone an opportunity to go and stake a claim to get in the team. But when you get the opportunity, go and grab it and be the difference for us.”

Tyler Dibling likely to get the opportunity vs Crystal Palace

With Dewsbury-Hall out, Moyes may well decide to move Iliman Ndiaye into the number 10 role, which is a position he’s very proficient in.

That will allow Tyler Dibling to make his first Premier League start for the club on the right wing, so as Pickford said, it’s a real opportunity that he’ll need to grasp.

If Dibling does turn out to be the difference maker, it gives Moyes a really difficult decision to make when Dewsbury-Hall returns.

The 19-year-old, who arrived in a £40m transfer in the summer, has shown flashes off the bench this season and Moyes praised him after his West Ham cameo.

“We like Tyler a lot, but he’s another one we’ll bring on in time.

“My first time here I had lots of players I brought in. We took a bit of time with them, we didn’t rush them.

“We’ll just have to accept we’ll bring Tyler on when we’re ready. I thought he kept the ball well and did some good things.”
