Everton 1-1 West Ham: Post-Match Player Ratings

A new era has begun for West Ham United under former Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo as the Hammers salvaged a point in a 1-1 draw against David Moyes’ Everton away from home.

The Irons first game under Nuno did not start as they’d have hoped for with Everton finding the back of the net first thanks to a neatly headed goal citrusy of Michael Keane – scoring his first goal of the season.

Luckily for both the Hammers and Nuno, their fortunes changed in the second half with Jarrod Bowen grabbing the equaliser thanks to a superb individual run and cross from summer signing Malick Diouf.

Here are the West Ham player ratings from Monday nights even draw away from home.

Alphonse Areola – 6

Continued to be favoured over summer signing Mads Hermansen, the Frenchman looked comfortable in between the sticks under Nuno.

Doing well to punch clear Garners corner before conceding the opener, the no.23 was called upon yet again to deny the Englishman in the dying minutes of the game salvaging the Hammers a point in Merseyside.

Kyle Walker-Peters – 6

Up against an inform Jack Grealish, the former Southampton defender did well to keep the Manchester City loanee quiet throughout the match – something that has been deemed a hard task for many Premier League defenders this season.

Also, yet again starting in place of the Irons absent 2025 Hammer of the Year Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Walker-Peters really seems to be settling in well in the colours of Claret and Blue.

Konstantinos Mavropanos – 5

Partnered alongside Max Kilman, the Greek international struggled in the air defensively with balls whipped into the box, allowing Keane a free header to open the scoring for the Toffees and put a dent in Nuno’s managerial debut for the club.

Inviting unnecessary pressure in the nervy last 10 minutes of the game, the no.15 also gave away a cheap free-kick in a dangerous area – dragging Drewsbury-Hall to the ground outside the penalty area and picking up a silly booking.

Max Kilman – 7

Facing a lot of criticism from West Ham fans as of late due to recent poor performances under Potter, the Hammers “£40 million man” looked like a completely different player under Nuno, putting in the best performance he has done this season.

Straight into the action with an early tackle on Beto, Kilman went on and continued to shine bright in the Hammers shaky defence but continued to struggle with balls coming into the box as he has done this season thus far.

El Hadji Malick Diouf – 7

A diamond in the rough for the Hammers so far this season, the Senegalese international impressed yet again.

Doing well to clear the ball away from danger in the first 45, the second half was when the Irons no.12 really showed his quality, producing a brilliant run down the left flank before whipping in a delightful cross for Bowen’s goal to even the score line.

Although it wasn’t recorded as an assist, the former Slavia Praha fullback already has 3 Premier League assists to his name – more than any Premier League fullback since the start of the season.

Soungoutou Magassa – 5

Making his first start in the Premier League since joining the Hammers from Monaco in the summer, the Frenchman looked more than completely out of his depth in the first half.

Looking unwonted to the sheer speed and quick pace of Premier League football, continuous errors and failed passes caused unwanted worry and concern from the away end, however the midfielder did look to grow into the game before making way for youngster Freddie Potts on the 59-minute mark.

Mateus Fernandes – 6

Bursting with energy and an impressive work rate, the new Portuguese Hammer was busy during both halves and did well to control the midfield.

However, there were times where the no.18 struggled to keep a hold of possession by making a few wayward passes either out of play or to the feet of the opposition.

Lucas Paqueta – 6

Working hard and always looking to make the right pass that could’ve unlocked Moyes’ defence, the Brazilian struggled under pressure and found himself failing to execute the final pass with most of his efforts to progress play finding their way to the feet of a player in blue.

However, an improvement in the second half was shown from the midfielder much like others in Claret and Blue on the pitch.

Crysencio Summerville – 8 - POTM

Named ‘Sky Sports Player of the Match’ following a very impressive first game under Nuno, the Dutchman was sensation down the left-hand side for the Hammers.

Bursting with both speed and energy, the former Leeds United star man is beginning to look like a gem in East London following his return from a lengthy hamstring injury which had him side-lined for the second half of last season.

Unlucky not to have grabbed the equaliser after an outstanding save from England’s no.1 Jordan Pickford denied the winger his first goal of the season, the 23-year-old continued to impress before being substituted in the 77th minute for Luis Guilherme.

Jarrod Bowen – 7

A very mediocre performance from the skipper, Bowen struggled to create much despite seeing much of the ball before clinching the Hammers much needed equaliser just 5 minutes after the hour mark.

Cutting inside from the right before rifling the ball past Pickford and into the back of the net for 1-1, it always seemed as if a goal from **West Ham**’s main man was always inevitable.

Niclas Fullkrug – 4

Making his return to the Hammers starting XI after being side-lined for Callum Wilson against Crystal Palace last weekend, the German struggled to thrive under Nuno in his first match in charge.

Looking both slow and lethargic upfront, it seems that the former Bundalsiga striker just cannot keep up with the sheer pace and intensity of the Premier League – with Callum Wilson looking the preferred candidate for the no.9 role.

Shaping up for a volley to steal all 3-points from the Toffee’s late on, the no.11 was frustrated to see his effort blocked by substitute Luis Guilherme.

A striker is definitely a priority for Nuno and [**West Ham United](https://www.vavel.com/en/football/2025/09/10/west-ham/1233321-west-ham-confirm-the-re-signing-of-lukasz-fabi.html)** in the coming January transfer window.

Substitutes

Freddie Potts – 7

Seemingly changing the came for West Ham when coming on for the underwhelming Magassa, the Hammers academy graduate was sensational in midfield and had many questioning why he was never used under Graham Potter more regularly.

‘Declan Rice-esk’, Potts looked both calm and controlled on the ball whilst also putting in a shift defensively, tackling players left right and centre and deservedly getting a lot of praise and applauds from the Cockney away end.

Luis Guilherme – 5

Replacing the stunning Summerville, the Brazilian youngster has a point to prove under new manager Nuno.

Darting down the wing and showing off his impressive pace, Guilherme had a solid cameo come the latter stages of the match but, was unlucky to get in the way of Fullkrugs shot late on – possibly denying the Hammers a late winner.

Andy Irving – N/A

Igor Julio – N/A
