Some might say that Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver is among the NFL's best at catching passes and airing his grievances with his team on social media then backtracking hours or days later.
Following Sunday's 31-25 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - a game in which he recorded just two receptions on nine targets for seven yards - Brown created a social media firestorm after he tweeted a Bible verse that read "If you're not welcomed, not listened to, quietly withdraw. Don't make a scene. Shrug your shoulders and be on your way."
Fans immediately took Brown's cryptic social media as an informal trade request, prompting Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni, offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, and Brown himself, to address his polarizing remarks and where the $96 million wide receiver stood with the team.
Though Sirianni and Patullo both downplayed Brown's antics, the 28-year-old wideout admitted to tweeting out of frustration following his worst performance of the season.
"Obviously, Sunday after the game, I let my frustrations boil over," Brown told reporters on Wednesday. "I didn't speak to the media. I had a chance to correct my frustrations, and I continue to let it boil over. That's on me. I take full accountability on that, posting that. My message on Twitter wasn't directed at anyone in the building. My coaches, not my quarterback, my GM, nobody."
And while Brown may have cleared the air, that doesn't mean all is forgiven.
In fact, according to ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles are at a point where they're open to listening to trade offers for Brown following Sunday's events.
"Some execs I spoke to this week don’t expect Philadelphia to trade Brown in-season but said that it could be something to entertain in the offseason," Fowler said, via Bleacher Report.
"It’s sort of the worst-kept secret inside the league that Brown’s love-hate relationship with Philly’s passing game bubbles to the surface from time to time. He’s a true competitor and wants to be great. With that comes emotion and inevitable frustration."
In the three seasons since he joined the Eagles via a draft day trade with the Tennessee Titans back in 2022, Brown has established himself as one of the top WRs in the NFL.
He's totaled 275 receptions, 4,182 yards, and 26 touchdowns in 51 games with three straight All-Pro selections, two Pro Bowls and a Super Bowl championship.
