The England international missed out on a summer transfer to Liverpool, with the deal falling through on deadline day due to Palace being unable to source an adequate replacement in time.

Guehi has put the transfer saga behind him and led his side to an impressive start to the season.

Speaking about Guehi’s potential, Hargreaves said: "He’s a fabulous player but he’s probably even as nice a lad as he is a player.

"The way he handled that situation, he could’ve thrown his toys out of the pram like some others players did, and got their move but he has been the ultimate professional.

"He knows he is the captain of the football club, they’ve helped him, and he will get his move probably at the end of the season and he could probably go anywhere…Real Madrid.

"He’s a dream. On the ball he’s really good, he can defend really well. He’s only 25. He’s the oldest 25-year-old I’ve ever seen because he’s so level-headed. He’s so composed and so reliable."

Guehi replaced Joel Ward as captain and the former Palace defender told TNT Sports that he is not surprised how his former team-mate has reacted to his uncertain summer.

"He’ll see this as an opportunity to really kick on," Ward said.

"What happened in the summer is in the past. I think, for me, one of Marc's biggest strengths is the way in which he handles situations.

"He’s got such a great support network around him in his family."

Hutchison praises 'incredible' Palace

-------------------------------------

Going 19 games unbeaten has drawn many plaudits for Crystal Palace and, in particular, their manager Oliver Glasner.

TNT Sports co-commentator Don Hutchison was impressed with the way Glasner set up his team for the challenge they faced against Kyiv and their ability to come away with the points.

"That’s what I love about Oliver Glasner’s team selection," Hutchison said. "He went strong because he wants to keep that momentum going. Don’t want to come here and lose a game. Now, they’re going to be unbeaten in 19. It’s incredible.

"They’re some animal, Crystal Palace, when they play at home, but they proved tonight they’re very capable on the road as well."

Palace took the lead in the first half with Daniel Munoz scoring a stunning header from Yeremy Pino’s back-post cross.

They had chances to double their lead before half-time, with Daichi Kamada's dazzling run deserving more than the tame finish he provided.

However, they got their second through Eddie Nketiah - who came on as a substitute to replace Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Minutes after he had been denied by the offside flag, Nketiah turned the ball into the net from close range after more magic from Pino, who jinked his way inside from the left wing before crossing with the outside of his right boot, into the path of his team-mate.

There was one sour note for Glasner, after Borna Sosa got himself sent off.

Three minutes after picking up a yellow card, he committed himself to a tackle which was too late and he received his marching orders for a second booking.

Palace's next Conference League game is against AEK Larnaca on October 23.
