There were no changes to the Seattle Seahawks’ injury report on Thursday.
There’s both good and bad news in that.
‘Calmness’ of Seahawks QB Sam Darnold jumps out to Daniel Jeremiah
The good news: Rookie safety Nick Emmanwori was listed as a full participant in practice for the second straight day, which keeps him on track to return for Sunday afternoon’s Week 5 home matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Emmanwori has been sidelined since suffering an ankle injury on the opening defensive series of the season.
The bad news: Four-time Pro Bowl defensive end Demarcus Lawrence (quadricep), two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon (knee) and Pro Bowl safety Julian Love (hamstring) were each held out of practice for the second straight day. That leaves their statuses for Sunday’s game unclear.
Witherspoon and Love both returned from injuries to play every defensive snap in Seattle’s road win over the Arizona Cardinals last Thursday. Witherspoon had been out for Weeks 2 and 3, while Love was sidelined for Week 3.
Lawrence was injured on the final play of the first quarter against Arizona and did not return. Head coach Mike Macdonald said Wednesday that the team is taking things “day by day” with Lawrence and that the veteran defensive lineman is not expected to go on injured reserve, which would require him to miss at least four games.
Veteran swing tackle Josh Jones (ankle) also was held out of practice for the second straight day.
