Former NFL QB released from jail after short stint - Clone

Former NFL quarterback Jay Cutler was released from jail Wednesday night, having served less than his four-day sentence following a DUI-related plea deal from an October arrest in Tennessee.

Cutler was arrested last October in Tennessee and charged with several offenses: driving under the influence, failure to exercise due care, violation of implied consent law, and possession of a handgun while under the influence after an accident involving another vehicle.

According to a police report obtained by Chicago television station WGN, Cutler said he offered the driver of the vehicle he hit $2,000 not to call the police and report the accident.

Cutler agreed to a plea deal Aug. 26 to spend four days in jail, receive one year of supervised probation, pay a $350 fine and have his license revoked for one year. He reported to the Williamson County, Tennessee, jail Monday but was released Wednesday night, according to TMZ — less than his four-day sentence.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately respond to a call from NJ Advance Media requesting comment on the early release.

Cutler, 42, played 12 seasons in the NFL. He spent three seasons with the Denver Broncos, who selected him 11th overall in the 2006 draft. After making his lone Pro Bowl in 2008, he was traded to the Chicago Bears in 2009, where he played eight seasons. Cutler also spent a season with the Miami Dolphins.

The former quarterback was also criticized in July for killing a sable during a safari hunting trip in Africa and posting the image on Instagram.
