Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen signals before the snap during second half action of the Bills home game against the New Orleans Saints in Orchard Park on Sept. 28, 2025.
Meanwhile, on the St. Brown Podcast, Bills receiver Khalil Shakir shared a funny story about Allen’s unusual pregame habit, which is throwing up.
“I remember, I was shocked when I first seen it, too,” Shakirsaid. “And then he goes out there and balls out. New guys who ain’t seen it yet, like, obviously just see him on the field doing his thing, and then they go to use the bathroom and he’s throwing up. But I think it’s just something he’s always done.”
Allen himself has addressed the routine in January. Ahead of the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, herevealed the three things he has to do before every game:
“Throw up, listen to my playlist, and drink water. Right after pre-game, come in the locker room, go do my deal, listen to my music, drink some water and some mouthwash.”
In an interview with Yahoo Sports a year ago, Allen elaborated on how it started.
“I always had the urge to do it, and I never committed to actually throwing up,” Allen said. “Until I was sick one day. It was against the Detroit Lions, my second year, preseason, in Detroit.
“I was like, you know what, I’m just going to go throw up. I wasn’t feeling great, I did it, and I had this weird sensation where I’d cramp up when I was throwing in my thumb. After I threw up, I didn’t have that anymore.
As for food before games, Allen said he typically doesn’t eat. But if the kickoff is later in the day, he occasionally has a simple dish of buttered pasta.
Josh Allen excited to reunite with former Bills teammate
As Josh Allen is preparing to extend the Bills’ winning streak with a potential win over the Patriots on Sunday, he is also excited to see his former Buffaloes teammate Mack Hollins.
“Very excited to see Mack Hollins,” Allensaid. “He made a very lasting impact in his one season here and, again, he’s another Buffalo kind of folklore legend.”

Hollins played only one season for the Bills in 2024 before signing a two-year contract with the Patriots on March 14.
