Brightest Rookie

Brightest Rookie

October 3rd, 2025

All smiles.

In the eyes of Mike Jones of The Athletic, the Offensive Rookie of the Year award is locked up after four games. Fuhgettaboutit. Done deal.

Jones’ Offensive Rookie of the Year (for the first four games) is Bucs receiver Emeka Egbuka.

Brightest offensive rookie — WR Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Fortunately, for the Bucs, the rookie has shined during the regular season, validating the high level of excitement coaches shared about him during training camp. Versatile, explosive and poised, Egbuka… is averaging 15.7 yards per catch. His 282 receiving yards lead the team, as do his 11 first-down grabs. Egbuka is tied for third in the NFL with four touchdown catches. Egbuka will likely face competition throughout the season from Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.

Joe cannot forget how Walter Cherepinsky, the founder of NFL Draft site WalterFootball.com was so outraged by the Bucs drafted Egbuka at No. 19 he called out Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht as “Millen” for drafting the Ohio State product.

Dummy.

What a maroon! (Yes, Joe meant “maroon.”)

Who’s laughing now?
