Tottenham are reportedly set to battle Arsenal to sign Brentford defender Nathan Collins in January.
The Gunners will be delighted with their current position, they came off a 2-1 win against Newcastle at the weekend, which put them just two points behind league leaders Liverpool, who dropped points to Crystal Palace.

Arsenal next face West Ham in the league on Saturday, and will hope to continue their impressive form to put more pressure on Liverpool, who play on Saturday evening.
Earlier this week, former Man United and England star Gary Neville said that Arsenal have the best squad in the Premier League, and many agree that the Gunners’ depth is better than any side in England.
One position of note is centre-back, as Arsenal signed both Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapie in the summer, to go alongside Gabriel and William Saliba. However, Polish defender Jakub Kiwior left the club on loan to Porto in the summer, and so the Gunners may decide they want one more defender.
Arsenal and Tottenham battling for Nathan Collins
In the summer window, one of the centre-backs that Arsenal were linked to was Brentford captain Nathan Collins, who at the age of 24, is becoming a top top Premier League centre-back at the Gtech Community Stadium.
However, the Gunners may face competition if they decide to re-ignite their interest in Collins. According to TBR Football, Tottenham are interested in the Irish international, as Thomas Frank wants to re-unite with Collins but in North London.
Collins was appointed as Brentford’s new captain after Arsenal signed Christian Norgaard in the summer, who previously held the role. Collins has been a key part of Brentford’s stable start to the season even after they lost manager Frank, and star players Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbuemo and Norgaard.
The centre-back has an estimated market value of around £24m, however, seeing as Brentford have lost a lot of key players over the past year, they may demand a much higher fee for their captain, who is under contract until 2029.
