Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are on red alert with Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola both on Manchester United’s radar, TBR Football understands.
United boss Ruben Amorim looks to be in a fight to save his job after a poor start to the season, and the club’s hierarchy are drawing up a shortlist of potential replacements.
We reported that Sir Jim Ratcliffe contacted former England head coach Gareth Southgate, while both Glasner and Iraola are admired at Old Trafford.

It can also be revealed that United would prefer to move for someone with Premier League experience, and another name who ticks that box is now believed to be in the running.

Exclusive: Crystal Palace and Bournemouth worried about Ruben Amorim’s position
TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has been told that the alarm bells are ringing at Crystal Palace and Bournemouth as they look to tie down their managers to new contracts.
Bailey said: “From what I’m hearing in the last 48-72 hours from Bournemouth and Palace, both clubs are very worried about what’s going on at Manchester United. Both managers are on United’s radar, and they know it.
“Both clubs have a similar mindset and believe they have one of the best youngish managers in Europe. They’ve done a wonderful job, and naturally that attracts attention.
“Both clubs are concerned about Ruben Amorim’s situation and are trying to tie them down to new contracts. Ironically, both managers are out of contract at the end of the season, which makes them potentially attainable. But neither would likely leave their current clubs mid-season.
“Still, both are very much on United’s radar.”
While Ineos are not believed to have set a hard deadline for Amorim to reverse United’s poor form, co-owner Jim Ratcliffe wants to see improvement this season.
“When push comes to shove, it’s a results business,” Bailey added. “Jason Wilcox is backing him, but it hasn’t gone unnoticed that Jim Ratliffe has had contact with Gareth Southgate, via Dave Brailsford.
“United are doing their due diligence – they want Amorim to succeed, but they also need options.”
Roberto De Zerbi also in reckoning for United job
As well as Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola, it is understood that former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is also being eyed up by United.
“With both managers, they have that Premier League experience, which I am told is a big thing for United – if they move on from Amorim, a new boss will need that,” Bailey said.
“And speaking of that, keep an eye on Roberto De Zerbi – United like the former Brighton man.”

United legend Michael Carrick is another option to step in, if only for the short term. He spent a brief spell in interim charge in late 2021 after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked.
“If Amorim left, Michael Carrick could be an interim option,” Bailey added. “He’s around the club, knows the culture, and understands what it means to manage Manchester United.
“He’s done a pretty good job at Middlesbrough and could come in to steady the ship if needed.”
