Awkward Man United question - Eddie Howe issues strong response on Newcastle United future

Eddie Howe has been linked with a possible move to Manchester United in recent days.

Eddie Howe has insisted he is fully committed to Newcastle United amid reports linking him to Old Trafford.

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has come under intense pressure due to a sticky start to the campaign. Since his appointment last November, the Red Devils have won just nine of their 33 Premier League fixtures.

He is the favourite with many bookmakers to face the chop - and Howe has emerged as one of the possible contenders. The Toon boss was linked with the Man United hot seat following Erik ten Hag’s sacking almost a year ago.

However, when pressed on the links, Howe reaffirmed his commitment to St James’ Park. He told reporters: “My commitment here is… I’m all in. I’m 100 per cent here, I always have been.

Howe also acknowledged the volatile nature of management as being a key driver to stay focused. He added: “This has never gone away (the fragility of management) for me, the pressure that I’m in. Partly, I think that is helpful though, because it drives me to work as hard as I do. I want to stay in the job that I’m doing. I want to be successful at it.

“I’m a firm believer, as I was in my playing career, if you take your eye off the ball for a second you get used to the same habits. That won’t work. You have to continue to push boundaries and get better. To do that takes a lot of energy and thought that drives the people around me.”
