At one month into the 2025 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars draft class is making their mark - or not - on the team. Some have definitely become immediate playmakers, and by some, we mean Bhayshul Tuten, who has been making explosive plays left and right. Others are quietly peforming under the radar, and then... there's Travis Hunter.
To recap, the Jaguars traded up to number two specifically to get Hunter, who was one of the most sought-after candidates in the 2025 NFL Draft. He had been clear from the beginning that he wanted to continue playing both offense and defense in the NFL, as he did in college, and Jacksonville has made history by allowing that to happen. Hunter has been playing as a wide receiver and a cornerback, though so far, he hasn't made many incredible plays on either side.
On the whole, the Jaguars 2025 draft class hasn't been doing much to make many waves, save Tuten and Hunter. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing.
The 2025 Jaguars Draft Class is doing well
Along with Hunter and Tuten, who were drafted in the first and fourth round, respectively, the Jaguars also took Caleb Ransaw, Wyatt Milum, Jack Kiser, Jalen McLeod, Rayuan Lane, Jonah Monheim, and LeQuint Allen Jr.
Of those, the only names who might readily be recognizable are Kiser, Lane, and Allen, as they're the only ones to see any time on the field during a regular season game. Ransaw and McLeod both got placed on injured reserve before the season even started, and Milum, while not on IR, is also injured. Monheim, while not injured, is Robert Hainsey's back-up center, and so hasn't yet had the chance to play.
But of the Jaguars rookies who have played, there are a lot of good things to say.
Coen has been understandably cautious with Hunter, allowing him to play on both sides of the ball without overloading him on either; with a player as talented as Hunter, the last thing anyone would want to see is an injury just as his NFL career is starting. Regardless, though, he has still shown that there is a lot of promise and potential there, particularly on offense. His workload has been getting a little heavier each week, and so far, he's handling it pretty well.
For the rest of the draft class, Kiser was a clear winner this preseason and has a lot of potential, and the same can be said for Lane.
The two biggest surprises, though, are Tuten and Allen. Allen, for a seventh-round pick, has been a huge surprise, making an impact not just with rushing yards, but with blocking, too. Then there's Tuten, who is making Jaguars fans ask, "Tank who?"
Granted, Tuten isn't quite at Etienne's level, but it seems to be only a matter of time before he gets there. The 2025 draft class might not be the flashiest bunch yet, but they're proving each week that the Jaguars made a lot of good decisions this year in who they brought on board - and that likely, only good things will be coming in the future.
