The game ended in chaos. Kyren Williams fumbled at the goal line when a touchdown was sitting right there, then got stuffed on fourth-and-1 in overtime when McVay decided to roll the dice instead of kicking a chip-shot field goal.
Now the entire NFL universe is convinced something smelled rotten at SoFi Stadium.
NFL Fans Convinced Rams-49ers Thursday Night Football Ending Was Rigged
The sequence that broke Rams fans started in the fourth quarter when Williams coughed up the rock at the one-yard line, handing San Francisco life when they should’ve been dead. The teams traded field goals to force overtime.
Then came the absolute crusher. Eddy Pineiro drilled a 41-yarder for the Niners, and McVay chose to go for it on fourth-and-1 from the red zone instead of extending the game. In the process, Williams didn’t get past Robert Saleh’s defense.

Social media went nuclear. The playcalling looked cooked, the execution looked staged, and fans weren’t buying the innocent explanations.
One fanwrote, “Their referee eats crow for breakfast. And I am sure they taste very suspicious.”
Following him, anotheradded, “It’s going to be a dirty breakfast tomorrow on every NFL show cuz all y’all be eating crow.”

Rams’ HC owned it postgame, saying he was “sick” about the call. But that didn’t stop the conspiracy train from leaving the station. The Williams fumble, the bizarre fourth-down gamble, the whole thing reeked to fans who’ve seen this movie before.
Despite all the drama, it is surreal that Kyle Shanahan’s squad is heading to Week 6 sitting at the top with a 4-1 record.
