FOXBOROUGH – Despite receiving a midweek scare, it looks like the Patriots will have one of their most dominant players when they take on the Buffalo Bills this weekend.
After missing Thursday with an ankle injury, Milton Williams returned and was at the Patriots final practice of the week on Friday.
After practice, Mike Vrabel said Williams is “questionable” for this weekend’s matchup in Buffalo.
The defensive tackle has been an impact player for the defense, and they will need him against a talented Bills offense on Sunday night.
The Bills enter this matchup with the No. 1-ranked rushing offense, averaging 163.5 yards per game. They also have the No. 6 passing attack in the NFL, averaging 240.5 yards per game. The Buffalo offense is also averaging 33.3 points per game and has yet to have a week where they were held under 30 points.
With the reigning MVP at quarterback in Josh Allen, along with Pro Bowl running back James Cook, the Patriots need all hands on deck when they enter Highmark Stadium.
“As a d-line and as a defense, we just got to be on the same page and just execute,” Williams said on Wednesday. “We know the type of player we’re going to face this week. The MVP last year. You all see he’s doing something crazy every Sunday. We just have to be ready for it… It’s going to take everybody.
This season, Williams has been the anchor to a talented Patriots defensive line. The unit enters this game ranked tied for second in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing 77.5 yards per game.
Williams is currently third on the Patriots in sacks (2) and leads the team in tackles for loss (5).
“These are my favorite types of games. In the lights, primetime,” Williams said. “You know everybody is watching. These are the type of games that I live for. We haven’t had any night games or primetime games in a little minute. This is going to be a good one. Division opponent. It’s going to be a good one.”
The Patriots also have three other defensive players that are questionable for Sunday: edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson (knee), cornerback Carlton Davis III (illness), and linebacker Jahlani Tavai (calf).
