Raiders Trade Proposal Ships Disgruntled 1,000-Yard Receiver to Bills

It was reported in the offseason that Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers requested a trade. Meyers has played well for parts of his career, but may not be good enough to warrant a trade request. Fortunately, he posted his best season yet a year ago, finishing with 1,027 yards and four touchdowns. While those aren’t superstar receiver numbers, he’s good enough to be a WR2 in the NFL.

Given that the Raiders haven’t exactly played well in the early stages of the season and might not be the team they were expecting to be at 1-3 with a loaded AFC West ahead of them, it’s possible that somebody like Meyers could eventually be dealt, and they give him his wish.

If so, Matt Verderame of Sports Illustrated believes there’s a deal that makes sense with the Buffalo Bills for a fourth-round pick.

“Meyers requested a trade before the season but didn’t get his wish. With the Raiders in last place in the AFC West and Meyers on an expiring deal, it would make sense to move him for the best offer.

“While the Bills have an offense ranked second in points and sixth in passing yards per game, they don’t have terrific boundary receivers, with Joshua Palmer and Keon Coleman. The duo has 341 yards and one touchdown through four games. Trading a mid-round pick for Meyers, who has 21 catches and 258 yards, would add a significant weapon for Josh Allen,”he wrote.

Would the Raiders Consider Trading Jakobi Meyers?

Meyers admitted that being traded wouldn’t, as he not only likes the Las Vegas Raiders, but he’s also loyal to the teammates he has. According to Tashan Reed of The Athletic, that was one of the factors that led him not to hold out on his current deal.

“I mean, that’s probably the hardest part,”Meyers said. “Honestly, I got to give a shout out to my teammates, because if it wasn’t for them, I probably would’ve did the same thing everybody else do. But you got to find a way to separate yourself, honestly, from just the B.S. and all the business. At the end of the day, my teammates got my back and I got they back. I’ma just rock out with them.”

Do the Raiders Want to Pay Jakobi Meyers?

If the Las Vegas Raiders don’t plan to give Meyers the money he’s looking for, there isn’t much of a reason to keep him around.

That’s the harsh reality of the situation, and given that the Buffalo Bills might be desperate to get something done in the near future due to their talent and possibly just missing a player like Meyers to take them over the top, it could be something that works out for both sides. He’s looking to get paid in the long term and believes he deserves it. If he can demonstrate that in Buffalo, it could be an organization willing to pay him.

“I don’t even know, to be honest,” Meyers said. “We gon’ see. We all gon’ find out together. Whatever they want to do, they want to do, but I ain’t trippin’. If they don’t, I’ma be good, regardless.”

“Just off what I did previously, I feel like I earned it,” Meyers said. “I was kind of hoping that it would get done. I felt like I proved enough that I deserve to be here. I thought they would see it that way — they don’t.”
