Patriots hope to activate linebacker Jahlani Tavai off injured reserve for Sunday’s contest in…

FOXBOROUGH — Jahlani Tavai could be poised to make his return to action as early as this Sunday against the Bills.

On Friday, Patriots coach Mike Vrabel indicated the linebacker, who was placed on injured reserve this summer after sustaining a calf injury in June, is one of four players who are questionable heading into this weekend’s contest in Buffalo. It’s a group that also includes guard Jared Wilson, defensive tackle Milton Williams, and linebacker K’Lavon Chaisson.

Currently, Tavai is still on injured reserve, but the clock on his three-week window to return started when he returned to practice Wednesday. From that point, the Patriots have 21 days to make a decision on Tavai; they can activate him to the 53-man roster or place him on season-ending IR.
