Kelly Stafford, the wife of former Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, has revealed some personal news.
It seems like forever ago that Matthew Stafford was the quarterback for the Detroit Lions, and some would rather forget those years. Even though Stafford is great, those certainly won’t the Lions‘ most winning years. So, it apparently just wasn’t meant to be, and Stafford was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in a deal that brought current Lions quarterback Jared Goff to Detroit. As soon as Stafford got to Los Angeles, he scored them a championship win, which felt like a dig to many in the Lions‘ world, but since then, Detroit has had their own reasons to celebrate.
Even though the Rams lost to the 49ers during Thursday Night Football on October 2, Stafford is still having a heck of a season. He’s 37, but he’s playing like he’s in his prime. Not that 37 is old, but it is getting up there in age for a player in the NFL. Plus, Stafford currently leads the NFL with 1,503 passing yards and 11 touchdown passes, and he’s also No. 1 in completions with 122 and pass attempts at 183, so he is rocking it on the field.
But, it’s not all about football. Stafford is also married with kids, and his wife, Kelly, is a podcast personality. Now, however, Kelly has made a big personal announcement.
Kelly Stafford Drops Personal News
Kelly, the wife of Matthew, has announced that she’s taking a break from “The Morning After” podcast for her mental health. She also says that she wants to try to work on the direction of the show.
During Thursday’s episode of the show, which also featured executive producer Kyra Stevens instead of co-host Hank Winchester, Kelly said that she’s taking about a month off of the show to focus on her family and think about the future of the show.
“I wanted to let you guys know that I will be taking a break for about a month,” Kelly said. “I’ve just been kind of struggling (with) where I see this thing going. Obviously, I have four daughters and a husband and this podcast is another one of my babies and I love it a lot, but not as much as them.”
She continued, “It has been taking more time than I’ve wanted it too. And so, Kyra and I are going to take this month and put our heads together and kind of see where to take it from here.”
She added that she started the show to “build this community, a community that accepts failure and supports each through it instead of judging. I feel like we can all lean on each other now. I leaned on you guys, i hope that you leaned on this podcast, either for laughter or just to realize that not everything is perfect and it doesn’t have to be.”
Kelly Kept Her Secret From Matthew Stafford
Kelly also said that she didn’t tell Matthew about her decision. “For right now, just for somewhat of my mental health and it’s also midseason, there has been changes in this podcast,” Kelly said. “I just think I need to take a step back and kind of figure out what the plan is. I’m not saying this is over. I really need a second.”
So, loyal listeners will have to find another podcast to get their fix while Kelly takes a break.
