Former Everton forward Richarlison has been linked with a return on numerous occasions, and the January window offers a fresh opportunity.
David Moyes finds himself needing his two strikers to improve their form over the coming weeks, with goals few and far between.
After watching them in action on Monday night, Duncan Ferguson said Everton need a new striker who can provide consistent goals.
There is just one final game before the international break kicks in this weekend with only one goal scored between Beto and Thierno Barry in the opening six games.
Over the summer, Moyes was open to signing more than one striker in the transfer window.
However, Everton had a lot of needs to fill, and the 62-year-old was forced to settle for the signing of Barry.
Richarlison is a link that will not go away, and a fresh claim has been dropped ahead of the January transfer window.

Richarlison’s Tottenham future in doubt amid Everton demands
Goals have been a major issue for Everton in recent weeks, with just two goals scored across their last four games.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
Paul Merson has said Jean-Philippe Mateta would transform Everton, with the Blues taking on Crystal Palace this weekend.
According to Team Talk, one familiar face could potentially emerge on the radar, with Everton monitoring their possible striker options.
“Another would be Richarlison. Links to Everton are always there, and his future at Spurs is coming into doubt again if they are to sign another forward,” said Jones.
“I am using these as examples of players that could see their situations open up, but the truth is that Moyes will be very particular about what he is looking for.
“More names will be mentioned, and I would be surprised if he did not get another signing over the line in January.”
Richarlison’s Tottenham future was thrown in doubt over the summer following the appointment of Thomas Frank as Ange Postecoglou’s replacement.
The Brazilian has started every Premier League game for the Lilywhites this season in the absence of Dominic Solanke.
After getting off to an electric start on the opening day, Richarlison has since added another goal to take his tally to three for the season.
He could certainly add an upgrade on Everton’s current options.
Everton open to signing striker in January
It is clear that Everton still have some work to do in the coming transfer windows to get to where they want to be.
Moyes made it clear in the summer that Everton would not tick every need in just one transfer window.
And that certainly proved to be the case, with the Blues still searching for the reliable striker they so desperately need.
January will offer them an opportunity to find that striker, and Everton are expected to make a move.
“There is going to be an openness to sign another forward if they still lack cutting edge, and that will form more clearly between now and January,” Jones said.
“They will wait to see the market opportunities that exist and aim to sign a player who can fit in.”
